SUNDAY SCHOOL We will have the Christmas program practice and celebrate the coming of Christmas! There is NO CLASS on Dec. 20th and 27th, as well as January 3rd. Have a glorious Christmas with your family!


THANK YOU SO MUCH to all who came over for coffee and rolls and participated in our Advent Activity Day! It was a lot of fun being together and your generosity toward the bake sale raised $150.00, enabling the 3rd graders to purchase toys for children less fortunate :) We had a nice number of people purchase from Heifer International too and enjoy the jewelry sale! Jewelry will be sold the next two week-ends after Mass in the back of church and in the gym after the Christmas program on Dec. 16th. Thank you for your support!


WEDNESDAY NIGHT CLASS Please be at the church by 6:45 for the Advent Prayer service! THere will be no supper served this night. NO CLASSES on Dec. 23rd and 30th. Enjoy your vacation! :)

PARISH ADVENT COFFEE and FAMILY ADVENT ACTIVITY DAY is TODAY (Dec 06) after Mass!! (This takes the place of Sunday School.) Please come join us for coffee and rolls, the 3rd grade bake sale, Heifer International (buying an animal to help families in other countries become self-sufficient), Catholic Jewelry sale, the J-Club Book Fair, and of course Advent/ Christmas crafts for everyone!


SUNDAY SCHOOL will meet Dec. 13th! Please try to come ...we will be practicing for the Christmas program and having special Christmas fun too! :)


WEDNESDAY NIGHT CLASS meets for optional supper at 6:00, time together at 6:30, and class to follow. On Wednesday, Dec. 16th, supper will not be served. Please come to the church at 6:45 for our Christmas program which begins at 7:00. Refreshments and gift drawings will follow in the gym. Each family is asked to bring a dozen cookies to share! :)

SUNDAY SCHOOL Nov. 22th - meet after church in the youth room ~ class ends at 11:00!! We will NOT have class next Sunday because of the Thanksgiving break. I am so very grateful to you parents for bringing your children and letting them experience our beautiful Catholic faith with me and our wonderful teachers! Sunday mornings are glorious as we all watch the little ones bring their offering to Father and then immediately after the celebration of Mass, learn about the connection to scripture and the love of Jesus through snacks, crafts, and curriculum! Thank you!! :)

The following Sunday, Dec. 6th, will be the Advent Coffee & Family Advent Activity Day!! This will take the place of Sunday school ...please come with your children to the gym ...it will be full of great crafts, food, & fun to begin Advent!!


NO WEDNESDAY NIGHT CLASS next week (11-25) with Thanksgiving break. I can’t tell you what a blessing it is to see the kids come on these Wednesday nights and bring the school to life! We are loving our time together with Father Seitz, friends, amazing teachers, and great cooks! Thank you, parents, for making sure they are here and forever growing in their relationship with Jesus and their Catholic faith! We thank Father Seitz for a wonderful teaching Mass last week and a wonderful supper from Larry Hunter and the Gilmore sisters as well ...Mary, LuAnne, and Cheley!! I’m pretty sure they had a lot of fun ...thank you!! :)

CATHOLIC CONNECTIONS ~ Father Seitz has blessed us with beautiful icons of the Good Shepherd and Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Embracing the icon of Love, as described in Catholic Digest, is a “beautifully detailed and devotional analysis” of the icon, Our Mother of Perpetual Help. This book, among many others, is available to borrow from the Faith Formation office, if you would like to know more about the art and symbols present in icons and the prayerful message they portray.

CATHOLIC CONNECTIONS ~ Please remember to pray for the Holy Soul of Purgatory and relieve their suffering with this simple little prayer.  "May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen".  There is also a book entitled, Hungry Souls - Warnings from Purgatory that reveals true accounts of suffering souls.

The memorial of St John Paul II is Thursday, October 22nd. St. John Paul the Great - His Five Great Loves, is a great book to read by Jason Evert.


Angels in the Waters by Regina Doman is a beautiful to read to children during this month of Respect Life. There is a brief review in this month's Catholic Digest. Copies of the Catholic Digest are ain the church and school. Please take one - it is a beautiful publication of our Catholic faith!

THANK YOU so much to Father Seitz for the beautiful and inspirational message to our Seniors last Sunday and the Knights of Columbus for making it such a special morning!! The car medals are such a perfect gift and the kids are so grateful! There are so many great literary works about Mary!! Enjoy a couple nice, easy reads with: Mary's Song ~ Living her Timeless Prayer by Mary Catherine Nolan and In Prayer with Mary Mother of Jesus by Jean Lafrance.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TODAY!! We will meet for our last class to do a couple crafts ...one about a favorite prayer of Pope Francis and the other to honor our Blessed Mother Mary for the month of May! Don't forget about MAY CROWNING on MAY 3rd!! We will meet at the back of church before Mass to get a flower and process in with Father Seitz for the entrance song! Flowers will be put around Mary and then Father will bless the crown for her! If the weather is nice, and you'd like to finish (or start) your flower on our wall outside the Faith Formation office door, please come over after Mass! Parents, please stay with your child and you can leave together as soon as he/she is finished painting! :)

GRADES 3-12 WEDNESDAY NIGHT students celebrated their last class on the 22nd!! A special thank you to Father Seitz for entertaining us on stage with tricks of "long ago" :), special blessings, and words of wisdom! Most of all we thank him for his presence among our young people, both here during religion and all the school and extra curricular activities!! We can truly call you, "Father!" You've touched many hearts with your joyful love! We were also very blessed to have families volunteer for Wednesday night meals and others who donated graciously to ensure an evening meal would take place!! The children and I cannot thank you enough for taking care of them after a long day at school and practices. It was a wonderful way to come together and celebrate our faith! And then, of course, we thank our amazing teachers who shared their faith-filled lives with each child and touched their souls ...your time and sacrifice is truly appreciated and admired!! GOD BLESS YoU!!

MAY 3rd ~ MAY CROWNING!! This is a wonderful Confirmation requirement for the 8th grade! Please come to the back of church (8:20) to help the Sunday school children with flowers and processing in!! Flowers will be provided and we will take them up to Mary on the altar during the entrance song. Father Seitz will bless the crown and a 1st grade child (in anticipation of First Communion in 2016) will crown Mary, Mother of the Eucharist!

FIRST COMMUNION was a glorious day with the sunshine and bells ringing!! Our special thanks goes out to Father Seitz for a beautiful Mass and being there for the children at our retreats and Sunday school! We are so grateful as well, to Jim Ries for making the rosaries that Father blessed and Hannah Guggisberg for playing the piano during our song!! And to the parents ...thank you for making the day so special for your children! They will always remember what an important day it was and all the preparation you were a part of! We look forward to seeing them receive the "kiss of Jesus" every Sunday!! :)

The KC's will be having an omelet breakfast in your honor and the Sewing circle has been working so hard on gorgeous quilts as a gift from Good Shepherd!! You are very blessed and we love you!!

SAVE THE DATE: THE BANQUET trip to Sioux Falls for 9th grade is set for July 15th. This is a required Confirmation event and so beautiful to be a part of!

CATHOLIC CONNECTIONS: The magazine Catholic Digest has so many wonderful ideas and on this "Emmaus Sunday" it is suggested to take your own family walk and a picnic lunch! They also mention the movie, "The Perfect Game" to watch as a family as baseball season gets underway ...a movie about the the first Mexican team to win the Little League World Series. Be sure to remember and check out too, the website, Holy Heroes for many great resources and online activities for your younger children.

"The Diary of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska" is a beautiful daily read with the words of Christ actually spoken to St. Faustina on each page. The connection with St. John Paul II is also very beautiful...the chaplet is a wonderful way to pray this devotion!.

NO SUNDAY SCHOOL TODAY ~ Have a glorious Easter!!! Next Sunday (DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY - April 12th) is First Holy Communion, so we will NOT have class. Make sure to come and finish up the year with us on APRIL 19th and 26th with fun and awesome activities leading up to MAY CROWNING on May 3rd. when the children will take flowers up to our Blessed Mother at Mass!! :)

GRADES 3-12: We will have class this WEDNESDAY, April 8th and then April 15th and April 22nd! These are so very important to attend as we finish up the year! We will be discussing the beautiful devotion of Divine Mercy, discussing Bible School, and celebrating with Father on the 22nd! Don't miss the end-of-the year surprises!! :)

THANK YOU to the Reed and Handevidt families for providing an awesome supper before our Easter break!! We are always so very grateful for the generosity and time given by our parents on these religion nights!! It was so very nice to have Father here too and experience his "teaching" Mass.

STEUBENVILLE NORTH ~ ROCHESTER is coming up this summer ~ July 10-12!! The theme this year is "LIMITLESS" and is open to all 9-12th grade students (including those ending their 8th grade year this Spring!) Registration has already started and can be done on-line at www.partnershipforyouth.org. You can also see an awesome video clip about the Steubenville conference on this site. There are also Diocese of Winona papers that need to be filled out and I have those available. Please don't let the cost prevent you from thinking about it ...it is such an incredible experience and we will have fund-raisers to help with the payment. CAMP SUMMIT in Lanesboro also comes up this summer for kids going into 6-8th grades next Fall!! It will be held August 3-6th. These registrations are also being taken and are available here at the school. This is a great camp and so well run by our Diocese and high school kids who make up the "prayer" and "Fiat" team members at the camp. I also have applications available for these two teams if any high school students would like to share their faith and have a great time helping younger kids experience the love of Jesus and summit of our faith, the Eucharist!

CATHOLIC CONNECTIONS: Sr. Edith Mary's presentation last week at "Our Lady of Guadalupe" shrine was so very beautiful and touched many hearts yearning to understand the Cross of Jesus in our own lives. Besides her personal inspirational story and words of reflection, she shared with us a book entitled, Suffering, The Cross of Christ and Its Meaning for You, by Hubert Van Zeller. Help yourself grow closer to Christ's suffering at any time of year.
